The Way of the Mountain

Please join us for a half-day retreat to explore the Way of the Mountain with practices that can help us remain steady along the path. Mountains have been a part of Buddhist iconography for centuries, and this will be a wonderful opportunity to discover the wisdom that is evoked in the presence of these noble and sacred earth forms. Born from the collision of tectonic plates, and rising out of the landscape to lofty heights, mountains represent spiritual growth, the formation of a strong base, the equanimity of stillness, the acceptance of change, and views from peak vantage points. We will be contemplating the elemental nature of mountains through Dharma teachings, meditation, movement and more, as ways to abide during shifts and upheavals in our own lives.

This event will also be a fundraiser for iACT, the non-profit refugee relief organization that we support as part of our global outreach initiative. We will have information on display about iACT’s programs, and a special donation basket available to receive cash or checks payable to iACT. Please help us make a generous contribution toward the compassionate aid that iACT provides to refugees in regions of conflict.

Our retreat will take place at the Mary & Joseph Retreat Center and surrounding gardens. We will be meeting in the Main Chapel. There will be chairs available for sitting, or you may bring your cushions and benches for meditation. Please bring your own water, snacks, and lunch for our breaks.
